🪥 MAIN FEATURES

Fourth on our list is a toothbrush sanitiser called Germ Shield by TAO Clean. Its distinctive feature is its tabletop design. It means it’s designed as a toothbrush holder and not as a cover (like the other options on this list). There will be people who see this as an advantage, and some will think of it as a flaw. We see both sides, as with Germ Shield, you wouldn’t need a separate toothbrush holder. But it also isn’t as convenient if you travel a lot and need to bring it with you. Despite that, its main function—UV sanitisation—is just as effective, with a 99.9% sanitisation rate.

EASE OF USE

There isn’t anything complicated about Germ Shield. It starts working automatically after you close your toothbrush inside it. Just flip your toothbrush head down, open the little door at the front of the device, put your toothbrush inside, and close it. You will see a blue light at the bottom turn on, which means the sanitisation is in progress. After four minutes, it will shut off, meaning sanitisation is done. Every once in a while, you will have to replace the two AA batteries for Germ Shield to keep working.

VALUE

Germ Shield is the most expensive device on our list. But it isn’t more effective or easier to use. Its efficiency is somewhere in the middle, as in four minutes it kills the same number of germs as other sanitisers. So, it’s not as fast as BrushSan or Bril, but faster than Sarmocare. It’s also powered by replaceable batteries, which can be an advantage to some, but we see it as a little wasteful. But if you’re looking for a toothbrush holder/stand and sanitiser in one, Germ Shield is the perfect device!
